The Mac Also Rises
With the PowerBook G3 and iMac, Apple takes two steps back from the abyss

By: Walter S. Mossberg

But perhaps the best aspect of the PowerBook G3 machines is their amazing flexibility, on both features and prices. There are two expansion bays, one on each side, and you can quickly pop in and out of these cavities a wide array of disk drives and batteries without even turning off the machine. Either bay can accept a battery or floppy-disk drive, and the larger, right hand bay can house a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. It can also take a Zip drive or other items made by various companies.
