Michael, Could you recommend some such brokers. Most appreciated.

Actually Michael, Datek has - at least theoretically - direct order routing. It would seem that ISLD (Datek's desk) is kinda in the Doghouse among other brokers.

Using a web browser to route orders to a broker is slow...very, very slow, and will cost you a bundle in the long run if you actively trade.>>

I just started reading this thread but I had to respond. Actually, using a web browser is not inherently slow, it's fairly fast because you are only transmitting a small stream of characters to the server. If the order doesn't execute quickly, you can blame the server, not the method of using a web client. It won't matter WHAT client software you use (web browser or customized windows client) if the server cannot handle the orders.

I've had many instant executions using Datek and ISLD. Lately however, their site seems to have some problems especially in the first half hour. I am afraid to trade now in the first half hour because it's happened that I place an order and cannot tell if it has been filled. I'm sure this is a problem with too much volume for their servers to handle efficiently.

I've heard Datek is suffering from AOL overadvertising syndrome... biting off more than they can chew. This is not smart imho. If I were a brokerage I'd rather have 1 daytrader account trading 20 times versus 20 accounts trading 1 time apiece. I can't understand why Datek doesn't realize they are going to drive their high volume clients away, if their servers are strained to capacity and cannot perform.
