Are you old enough to remember what really happened?
IBM really put Intel on the map when they chose to use the 8088 instead of the Motorola 6xxxx chip. IBM chose MSFTs operating system because the developer of a better system was to stupid to sell it to IBM. If it wasn't for IBM, Intel and MSFT might be nothing but specks on the horizon. When Compaq reverse engineered IBMs code...Pandoras box was opened. If anyone brought down IBM it was IBMs stupidity, Compaq and Microsoft not Intel.
