Hi Art and Robert - IBM's PowerPC will be "consumer" famous soon

Its been a primary player in IBM's AS/400s and RS/6000s but will be highly advertised in Apple's "iMAC" consumer launching 8/15/98 .

Back-tracking to yesterday's YK2000 discussion , I should have noted IBM's latest OS version for its G5s has a YK2000 "detect" feature .

In fereting through AAPL's executive comments at last weeks NYC MacWorld , AAPL expects to ship 5 million IBM PowerPC "iMAC" machines .

Importantly the IBM PowerPC is on a new AAPL iMAC motherboard in a socket which should allow easy IBM PowerPC upgrades .

The 5 million units forecasted by AAPL are targeted to 4 million owners of "old OS" Macs and another (1) million to education users .

Just today S Jobs , who IMHO would be a great guiding asset to IBM's board , has raised the iMAC target to 10 million prospects:

Not mentioned , but of value to know is that AAPL will be launching its OS X (UNIX for everyman) 8/31/98 , making iMACs and Intel PCs easy to administer on a network .

Can you imagine someday seeing "IBM inside" ?

Regards,
Jim K.
