Iomega and Gateway Country Team Up to Offer Product Demos and
Giveaways

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 1998--Iomega Corporation (NYSE:IOM) and Gateway Country(TM) today announced "Iomega Focus Weekend," July 18-19.

Six Gateway Country locations will give away Zip(R) drives, Buz(TM) multimedia producers, Visioneer(R) scanners, and Gateway software training sessions. The Iomega-sponsored event is designed to educate PC buyers through live, in-store demonstrations.

As part of the promotion, radio stations from Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Ind., New Orleans, La., Charlotte, N.C., and Tampa and Clearwater, Fla., will give away T-shirts, CDs and concert tickets. In addition to the giveaways, Gateway Country and Iomega will provide customers with live demos of Iomega Zip(R) drives and offer Gateway software tutorial sessions.

"The Iomega Focus Weekend is a great complement to Gateway's innovative direct sales model," said Keith Slankard, director, OEM marketing worldwide, Iomega Corporation.

"By allowing customers to experience the technology and the benefits of the Zip(R) drive first-hand at Gateway Country before they order their custom-configured computers, we're adding a new dimension to direct PC sales."

At Gateway Country locations, computer shoppers can place orders for Iomega Zip(R) drives and disks, as well as learn about Gateway products "face-to-face" before buying their custom-built computer systems direct. The focus weekend marks Iomega's further penetration into the OEM market.

"Our partnership with Iomega allows us to offer our customers the products they want and to help them configure a new PC that meets their individual needs," said Jerry Leone, director of merchandising for Gateway Country. "In fact, many of our customers are adding Zip(R) drives to their PC, in order to support today's home applications."

With over 15 million drives shipped, Zip(R) drives give PC users the ability to create, save, transport and share more Internet, multimedia, digital photo and audio files.

Customers can conveniently save and transfer files to and from work, store e-mail files or Internet downloads, and create graphics or digital photo albums. Each Iomega genuine 100MB Zip(R) disk provides 70 times the capacity of traditional floppy disks. About Gateway Country and Gateway
