Re: THE READINESS OF OUR ARMED FORCES. They're lovers not fighters:

WSJ editorial:

The military brass issuing all those denials and testimonials about how swell everything is working out with gender-mixing and such have their work cut out for them. That's especially true given the overwhelming weight of the facts, and not only in the above-mentioned scandals.

For example, the military life--as U.S. troops lived it in their gender-mixed tents in Bosnia--produced roughly one pregnancy every three days. And as a report last year by a panel led by former Senator Nancy Kassebaum-Baker noted, at Fort Leonard Wood the gender-mixing was such that the Army had to remove the doors from the barracks rooms as a way of discouraging sexual activity. Not altogether surprisingly, removing the doors had an effect somewhat the opposite of the one intended. The Kassebaum-Baker report concluded further that gender-integrated basic training resulted in less discipline, less unit cohesion and more distraction.
