Thanks for the strategy. It makes good sense and I've done that when trading options on bond futures; however, didn't short puts. But in a trading range, selling calls has been profitable before (in bonds). I just never had the nerve to sell bond puts since downside moves are sometimes more severe.

In principal, I suppose there is no difference in stock options but in bond options, where I was fairly secure that I wouldn't have to take the other side of an actual futures position, it wasn't a problem. I will start paper trading some of these positions to gain familiarity with stock options though. First we have to identify good stocks in a trading range. The stocks I want to add have all recently broken out of a trading range, i.e. CSCO, TLAB for two.
