Dale,

In 1991 Compaq's business was based entirely on high priced computers. They did not anticipate the coming price pressure from Dell, and by mid-1992 CPQ had declined by about 75%.

They responded with a new line of low cost 486 boxes, and the rest is history. How many CPQ stock splits have occurred since then?

The only difference between then and now, is that they are leading the charge rather than responding. You should get in while the stock is still a bargain.
