I, too, hope that CKFR buys CyberCash! CYCH has some great possibilities, including paying for a single article from a magazine published on the web (for example, just 25 cents), single articles from professional journals published on the web, etc. If you are doing banking on the web, it should be easy to transfer some cash into your "electronic wallet". This capability is in addition to CYCH's alternative encryption style. And Tom Lindt, as you observe, this would include a deal with AOL!

I hope someone asks Pete Kight this question - at the Florida conference, if not sooner!

I don't believe the AOL deal cost CyberCash a cent. The CEO of CyberCash sits on the board of AOL, and I bet it is a revenue sharing deal.

I feel now more than ever, buying CyberCash would be a bad move by CheckFree. First off, CyberCash for the most part deals with Credit Card transactions, an area where CheckFree is not trying to concentrate (for good reason, there are many enemies in Credit Card processing). Second, CyberCash's bill presentment is smoke and mirrors at this point, and would not help CheckFree speed up their bill presentment product. Last, CyberCash is years away from turning a profit, and would slow CheckFree's earnings growth.

Just my opinion,

Benny(I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time)

<< #3 CKFR will get into on line transactions, purchases via SET vs. buying CYCH, and may end up
buying CYCH or one of their partners in on line payments.

ie...how much is an AOL deal worth, when E-Trade, Intuit paid Millions for a slot? Didn't CYCH
sink a ton into the deal? I Question why doesn't CKFR buy them before MSFDC?>>

Well, I think I understand where you're coming from here. I can see that it would be a very interesting thing for CKFR to be both on the front and back end of payments. The deal with Visa would make this easier for them, wouldn't it?

They have the cash, that's for sure. They could get the whole payment thing sewed up on both sides.
