To all,

Some interesting and, for a change, readable info on Apple Recon today:

Going forward, while RFI has received reports that Apple's internal
target for units shipped in 4Q are 1 million units, we're of the opinion that 750,000 - 800,000 total units are more reasonable. 1 million units in 1Q '99 is more reasonable.

Bottom Line?:

There's a lot to cheer about in the 3Q earnings report but Apple now has to show The Street growth, and not just in revenues. The Street will want to see "Growth" in both units and market share for Apple. RFI suspects that if the iMac, other consumer models, G3 PowerBooks and the "New" DT/MT lines due out will hopefully deliver that growth. Our estimates for 4Q and 1Q are subject to revision.

To all:

These are some excerpts from CNN Sunday 6:30 pm show: Daniel Kunstler of JP Morgan Securities said how apple stunned the street, mostly on the margins. The anchor called Apple "perhaps the turnaround story of the year." Later in the spot, there was stated concerns about software applications for the web publishing market, especially, which are too limited. They also said the imac is what their pinning their hopes on and that they now have 4 product lines instead of 15. They ended the spot saying that Apple market share may have peaked.

Anyone else see it? Any thoughts?
