Duncan,
Janet Reno is simply following Clinton's orders. There will be no independent council to investigate democratic campaign finances unless she is forced to appoint one by congress. The arrogant thinking of the Clinton Administration that abides by the principle of "there is now wrong-doing unless you can prove it in a court of law" prevails. Lack of a court of law to "find any wrong-doing" serves their dictatorial ambitions, so why appoint an independent council when you have the power to stop it. The current goal is to create doubt about the viability of any and all charges of wrong-doing in order to stay in power. So far, the broadcast media (especially CNN) has assisted greatly in the ambitions of the Clintonistas. They have successfully (according to the polls) demonized everyone who has attacked them, especailly Ken Starr.

Reno's Legacy: "I did it with and for Clinton."
Defending a corrupt and immoral administration is quite a legacy.
