I was sort of a "mystery man" at the love-in because I have mostly lurked rather than posted. I gained a great deal of confidence in the Dell (direct) model, enjoyed meeting and learning from the other Dellheads, and add my special appreciation for the efforts of Bachman and Kemble in particular.

Naturally, everyone who attended the love-in was long and enthusiastic on Dell.

I was interested in learning how concentrated various Dellheads were in Dell stock or options, and to what degree margin debt was used. I seemed to be one of the more cautious with regard to concentration, with only about 25% of my portfolio in Dell, but with full margin.

One version of diversification that some used was to be almost totally in Dell, but with varying instruments. For example, some in stock, and the balance in options of varying expiration dates and strike prices.

At our briefing after the plant tour, our host quoted from I believe Tom Meredith that "Diversification (away from Dell) is expensive insurance." That has certainly been the case in the past.

The investor who apparently owns personally 260,000 shares of Dell is apparently almost fully margined and almost fully concentrated in Dell.

I would be interested in knowing what strategies other Dell investors recommend.

Ken:
<<<< Good picture, and how many shares does he have?>>>>
Darrell and Nancy will probably be joining the thread so I would not want to say the no. of shares( I don't know ,anyway)
I do know the Smiths were once (heavily?) invested in Walmart and had gone to WMT shareholders meetings where management also was accessible and 'questionable' at the meetings.
Or do you mean Three???? At times Three and I once ran neck and neck so its a challenge(hehehe). But I am not in a position to sell
puts as some of my(Jan's?) shares are in the attic, so I am presently losing ground.(ggg).
Regards and have fun
