DRAM PRICING FROM yahoo

DRAM and SDRAM prices have tightened in the last 3 business days. There will be spot shortages on selective 16mb and 64mb SDRAM and certain 16mb DRAMfor the next 4 to 8 weeks. Micron raised there price on 16mb DRAM(4x4 FPM and EDO) and have little,if any, 2x8-10 SDRAM (a mainstay for non PC-100 modules) forcing companies to move to 2x8-8/7 SDRAM-which is more expensive to use, but not more expensive to make.Get it? What this means is that Micron is going to be more profitable through the "slow" summer months than first predicted.
Combine this with the proposed consolidation of Goldstar and Samsung's DRAM manufacturing entities and it could be a good finish to '98 for Micron.

I am personally "in the trenches". I deal in a minimum of 5 Asian markets nightly and 3 European, as well as North America.
Micron has told two multinational OEM's that I deal with daily, that they will not accept any "upside orders" on 16mb SDRAM and 64mbSDRAM. Prices for 2x8-10 SYNC have moved from $1.20 to $1.38 to $1.42 in the last week and a half. 4x4 FPM and EDO price direct from Micron were raised to $1.40/$1.50. This is also from $1.25 three weeks ago to $1.30/$1.35 last week to this new level.
Mark my word, ladies and gentlemen. This week will be the beginning of price increases around the world.(The wild cards being Vanguard, Nanya, and maybe Hyundai)
8x8 SYNC (64mb SDRAM)has moved from a $7 number to a $7.50/$8.50 number in the last two weeks (depending on make).
P.S. The Koreans will be shut down for one to two weeks within the next month.
P.S.S. Don't believe what the "Market trackers" or "trend analysts" say. (Dataquest is,and has been a joke, for years) The only gauge that matters is where product really changes hands, and that is in the "Grey Market". That is where the rubber meets the road. "How much is that Picasso worth?" I respond, "How much will you write the check for?" That is how much it is worth. The true value of a commidity product is dictated by the market, not some figure suggested by a guy that sits on the sidelines and has never risked $500k or $1mil of his own money to bring in DRAM "on the come" from overseas. I've been doing this for over 15 years, 7 days a week. Trust me, prices are going to go up.
