Bingo! It's a war for the eyeball and training that eyeball into habitual patterns. Pavlovian. The hardware guys have first eyeball followed by operating systems, browsers, ISP's, hosts, portals, etc.
I think Dell would be VERY selective in what they do, but from this news release they obviously see an opportunity here and Mikey rarely misses the big one.

Remember that the majority of Dell's market is government, institutions, corporations, and universities. These people don't want their computers to automatically point to k-mart. Portals won't work in the long run. As more and more people get online, and then become more sophisticated about being online, they will realize that they don't need portals--if they haven't already--and will begin jumping wherever they want to go. Emalls were tried, and failed. Sites that specialize will do better.
