E*Trade does suck at times. Let me give you an example that just happened to me.

I placed an after-market order in. At the open, no trade went through after ten minutes. I proceeded to cancel the order and place another sale in. E*Trade's goofed up system sold not only the cancelled order, but it sold stock I didn't even have.

Not only did I have to buy shares to make up for an "oversale", but they wouldn't cover the commission charges on their fault.
