Yes, our system is in Portland OR, although we own the rights to over 30 basic trading areas across the nation. Our Internet service is called WantWEB. My comment about 1.5 Mbps at any given time is actually inaccurate. Our customer COULD realize up to 10 Mbps (shared access) if this were our backbone connection. Currently, our backbone connection is 1/3 of that. Each of our systems have the capacity of over 6 Gbps (two-way) that can reach over a 35 mile radius from our tower. Now THAT is bandwidth. Yes, currently, we are a one-way operation with the upstream going through POTS. But as soon as the FCC wakes up and authorizes our two-way, we should have a wonderfully competitive two-way product. No, we are not affected by weather. (Any more than electricity or cable, that is.) We are, however, affected by line-of-sight. You must be in line-of-sight to our transmission tower. (70-90% of Portland is in line-of-sight to our tower.)
