We've tried two that were quite effective: Woodfinisher's Pride and Citristrip. Both are based on n-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), which is nonflammable and produces fewer toxic vapors. (Citristrip also contains d-limonene, a citrus-scented solvent; it actually smells nice.) They're not cheap, and they take much longer to work than traditional strippers. But we recommend them since the old, methylene chloride strippers offer speed at the expense of health: They're both carcinogenic and narcotic.
Citristrip: 810-340-0400.
Woodfinisher's: 901-775-0100.

Xray, no my estimate is not for the entire market. Sales for NIR. SV-35 is entirely benign. NON-REGULATED by WHMIS. Extremely safe product when compared to ANY other paint stripper.

The MSDS for SV-35/A seems to indicate the product as being quite harmless.

At the top there is a NFPA 704 Designation hazard rating.
Ratings of '0' = Insignificant hazard,
'1' = Slight
'2' = Moderate
'3' = High
'4' = Extreme.

here is the categorical hazard summary for SV-35/A:

'0' for Fire hazard
'1' for Health
'1' for Reactivity
'---' for Special.

So my interpretation on its hazard level is pretty much avoid drinking the stuff or splashing it directly in your eyes.

The component ingredients are also listed. Of course the MSDS still recommends exposure controls and some measure of protective equipment.

Teratogenicity: None
Reproductive Toxicity: None
Mutagenicity: None
Carcinogenicity: None

And under the Transportation Information section, the following statement:
SV-35/A is NOT regulated as a hazardous material under the regulations of the U.S. DOT, IMDG or in Canada TDG.

I have experienced good results with SV-35/A so far with no adverse effects realized, other than my hands kinda smelled a bit like the stuff afterwards. Not as badly as slicing onions though. And SV-35/A cleans up easily with water.

Xray, as this product is effective as reported, Napier WILL be the industry leader for paint strippers in North America, within the next year. With the exit of MC based products and SV-35 working far,far better than anything else, and the environmental aspect of this product, this is possible.
The product will also be used in many other areas that paint strippers are not currently being used now. Eg, many areas that currently use sandblasting. Silica sand is also nasty stuff. Causes silicosis of the lungs.
Because of all this, sales of Napier should skyrocket over the next 6 months (as will income)until they capture most of the market and become the market leader. Because of this, Napier can sell at higher prices, until competition forces lowering of prices. But before that happens, they have to develop a product to compete with Napier's. This will be hard, as Napier has the patent locked up, as well as anything close to the formulation.
I am not here promoting this company. I only call it as I see it. ( I have university schooling in the marketing area )

Regards, Al
