I think the argument that Amazon will face competition due to comparative shopping (including web robots looking for low prices) is flawed. I design Internet pages. I work every day with "non-techical" computer users. Most people with computers and Internet access today don't even know they can set their monitors to a higher resolution than 640x480 pixels. They probably see it as a miracle that they get anywhere at all by clicking hypertext links or banner ads. Once a user like this gets to Amazon and has a good buying experience, they'll come back again and again, and tell their friends.

I'm not arguing that Amazon is valued correctly. Even I think it is way overvalued. But it's something different to say that Amazon is doomed to fail because all us Internet users are too smart for them. I think its a bad guess to short Amazon based on this theory.
