Frank: K's version is correct. According to LSI IR, MS issued a report stating that LSI would have some part of the DVD decoder, but that it would not be selling Sony the MPU. However, LSI IR also cautioned that this report was written without consultation with LSI management.

Ok Here it is (as already discussed)! From briefing: LSI Logic Corp. (LSI) 21 11/16 +1/4: NB Montgomery Securities downgrades manufacturer of high-performance integrated circuits from "buy" to "hold" Now does anyone have any past record of these guys and how often they have been correct with such calls? I dont recall whose post it was but one of the poster on this thread said: "...yes, I have been wanting to buy LSI in the 20's, but now I think I am going to wait till it gets to $15-$16/shr... Not that there is absolutely anything wrong with the above statement, but I always get a big smile when people just pick a random number and say "yeh, I buy it when it goes down to xxxx". And the funny thing is when the stock gets to that level they continue to say "oh yeh, I think I wait and if it drops to $X then I buy!, and so forth.. Anyway, as for LSI, tomorrow is the big day (in fact the day after tomorrow is the big day). The earnings may not be that great. However there is a very positive side to the story! Most likely a bunch of these analysts will start downgrading the stock (the same ones that have had it as a strong buy up to now)! And that only means one thing: The stock will finally start going up! Regards, Addi Jamshidi
