Paul Engel, re: <AMD delays K7 until LATE 1999>
Where in the article does it say that? All I found was, "AMD said it will port its upcoming K7 processor to a 0.18-micron process and aluminum interconnects in the fourth quarter 1999,... "
Do you know that they aren't coming out at 0.25 micron?

Paul, re:AMD delays K7 until LATE 1999

Yeah, Jerry, the slick salesman, just admitted that K7 will slip by at least 6 months and he comes out smelling like a rose. I wonder how many new AMD investors will hoodwinked this time.

AMD has to compete against Intel's onslaught of new chips (and price cuts) over the next 1.5 years with variants of K6 <gggg>. Good luck. AMD, as we know it, wont be around that long!

After years as the undisputed leader of the processor marketplace, the Santa Clara, Calif., chip maker has increasingly come to be viewed as a vulnerable target by rivals. The ongoing popularity of low-priced PCs has steadily eroded Intel's margins and profits, leading to a revenue shortfall in the most recent quarter.

Paul,

Did you forget to mention this part of the article?

RE:AMD delays K7 until LATE 1999. NOT
The CMPnet article says the 0.18µ is due 4Q'99. A 0.25µ version will appear before that. The 1 GHz copper version has 120nm printed gate length. ALL K7's will run significantly faster (more parallellism per clock cycle).
