>>...did Eric buy the necessary intellectual property, that will be accreative going forward... -w.f. so far it would be a resounding no, but we are only in the 3rd quarter. << Just think what the attitude would be if the USRX x2 56K modems were selling well. Eric B. would be considered a genius, and all would be well in the COMS world. IMO, he underestimated the modem problem. (I can't say whether he should have seen it or not...) And, he was blindsided by the drop in business in the network sector. Just one of these going bad could have supported the company, but the combination was overwhelming. Also, there was a COMS new product transition period coming up - which normally may take about a year, but Eric B. knew about this. Whether buying USRX or not with this new transition period coming up has puzzled me. I would say that Eric B. saw more positives than negatives when he weighed the balance. I would think he said to himself, before buying USRX, "well, what if modems have troubles...what else are we getting for our $$". I'd say he answered this with the RAS products. And also, as W.F. said, the intellectual capital which partly represents the future products that COMS will have a good shot at... the xDSL and Cable Modems and other future products. The "intellecutal capital" cannot be overlooked. IMO, this is one of many companies future problems. CISCO's Web Site is looking for hundreds of positions for qualified Network Engineers. But, the "intellectual capital" part of USRX still has to prove itself...and that's part of why we haven't given up on COMS...because we know it's has a lot of future potential. We're also betting on the Network Sector improving sometime in the future (and it looks like it is...Bay, Ascend, Europe, etc are picking up, not to mention COMS new products starting to sell strongly.) And we're betting on the new cycle of products that COMS is coming out with.
