Intel's drop in ASP's is for a different reason than Dell's. Dell's dropped because their cost to produce was less. Intel's drop in ASP's was because they needed to get rid of inventory.

I disagree, ASP's are dropping because the competition sells an equivalent product for less money. Who will buy a $2400 Dell for home use when you can get an equivalent machine for $1200 ?
Hopefully Dell will begin to sell some lower cost machines as Intel gets the cheaper chips out.

So it should say CPQ, meaning that CPQ dumped inventory, okay agreed.
As for Intel dropping ASP for a different reason, I'd like to know why you think Intel dropped ASP's ?

Simple because #1 boxmaker CPQ was buying equivalent chips for less $. IBM too.

I won't buy AMD inside but lots of people will, just like lots will buy other than Dell if it's cheaper. Declining ASP's got Intel and it will eventually get Dell. Thank goodness Dell has a better business model than the competition. As for quality, how long do you keep a PC anyway, it's extinct in 3 years anyway.
