Cityscape Financial Comments On Possible Confusion
Over Its Stock Symbol

ELMSFORD, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1998--Cityscape Financial Corp. (OTC
Bulletin Board: CTYS - news; ''Cityscape'' or the Company'') today commented that it has noted a
recent increase in its trading price and knows of no reason for the increase.

The Company indicated, however, that it believes there might be some confusion in the investment
community between it and CitySearch Inc., a California-based internet company that recently filed a
registration statement pertaining to an initial public offering by CitySearch. In such filing, CitySearch
indicated that its proposed Nasdaq National Market stock symbol would be ''CTYS''. Cityscape's
former Nasdaq National Market stock symbol was ''CTYS''.

There is no relationship between Cityscape and CitySearch. Investors interested in CitySearch are
urged to take all appropriate steps to ensure that any investment they wish to make in CitySearch is
made in CitySearch and not in Cityscape. Investors are urged to read CitySearch's filings with the
Securities and Exchange Commission for information regarding its proposed initial public offering.
