Sun Tzu,

(Bless you ;-) Rhymes with achoo, get it?

Anyway!

Good suggestions. I'm with ya on the layered 3D look of windows. I think you could easily represent the layers of Windows with a 3D popup version that graphically represents your present position within Explore much better than putting one window on top of another as is the status quo.

I also like the possible customization issues with a different envirionment for each user based on 3D worlds represented by windows on top of your desktop. Of course Microsoft Bob totally sucked but it doesn't mean some Marketing punk couldn't sell this to Mr. Bill the SNL playdough dummy who learned everything he needed to know from Steve Jobs in 1982. But, I digress and discredit my point with my open hostility towards MSFT.

Hey TDFX, take a page from Bill's book and give it away! Make it a part of the pending Win 98 patch and get it posted on windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Make the patch, approach MSFT with a free sample and offer Bill the oppurtunity to appear cooler than he is. Hell, even buying The Rolling Stones ("Start Me Up" Win 95 ad campaign) didn't make Bill really cool did it? This would be like making him a Quake king in the eyes of the gaming community.

So, less than 10 posts on a very uneventful day for our beloved TDFX. That is truly sad. Sun Tzu, it's tough to earn repsect on this board. I give you credit for more eloquently posting the (outlandish) possibilities of TDFX than I did.

Best of luck in your investments whether or not you are short TDFX. (Of course I would prefer that everyone were long)

Regards,
Stuart

PS. I thought VooDoo Lights was LAME. Let's see some Unreal demos or Fractal patterns that at least make Voodoo chips know they're in use.

Who says the 3D stuff has to be Voodoo-only? Why not make its content related to Voodoo, or display the 3Dfx spinning logo somewhere while providing a cool html link for more info about 3Dfx?

Good ideas, BTW.

What about an evangelical force and cool T-shirts?

Last weekend, I was in CompUSA, and as always, scoped out the video cards. One fellow there was eyeing the G460 and Mystique. He was looking for a video card for about $100 that would make Unreal look better than the software emulation on his machine. He said it looked great on his friend's. Since he had an HP with built-in video, I recommended he get a Voodoo Graphics card, and look on PriceWatch to get a good price. (The Monster 3D's were $129 still! Best Buy next door had them for $99. Both with $30 rebate - right!)

Anyway, this and Sun Tzu's post got me thinking about different grassroots strategies for getting the Voodoo word out. Wouldn't it be cool if someone produced a T-shirt with the opening castle scene from Unreal on it, including the words: "3Dfx Voodoo - It's Unreal!" Or maybe "3Dfx Voodoo made Unreal look Real!" Buttons would work as well, but then you couldn't use both sides. (Sandwich boards maybe? ;P)

Cheers,
Tim
