Not that I'm in the business of countering good news, but the SIA's "street-wide" test for Y2K has been in the planning for about 1 1/2 years, and will actually take place "for real" next March. That means that it will have taken over 2 years for a highly-organized, sophisticated, and well-funded group of high-tech firms to get it together for this test.

Hats off to the SIA and the entire Financial Services industry for having real vision on Y2K and for galvanizing their membership to tackle this problem. Let's hope that other industries as as prepared.
