This is great news! Everyone just think for a moment. If some company from another country went to a large U.S. bank and deposited a whole lot of money, at a better interest rate than they could get at home, then went back to their country and then said they will be getting an increased interest rate backed by the U.S. government. They would be correct. Their investors would then get a false press release saying that the U.S. knows nothing about the company. The stock holders would then be calling the U.S. Government, be directed to the FDIC(In charge of insuring banks up to 100,000 per account) and asking about their money, the FDIC would say we know nothing about it, yet the contract exists and is real. The point being, the company has done nothing wrong. The bank has done nothing wrong. The FDIC has done nothing wrong.

By the way I lived in a south american country for 9 years, my Dad worked down there, and one thing I learned is nobody knows what the other person is up to, especially the goverment. I have personally had bazzar things happen, like my passport taken away (when I was 12!) because one branch of the goverment thought I was working for a oil company, I only had students visa,( I would go visit my Dad at work once in a while). The office right across the hallway gave me back the passport the next day after I had sat in the hallway with my mom for 5 hours waiting to talk to someone. There excuse was " OH he's just new here, he thought you were someone else"!!! Stupid or what. But that is typical for down in those countries.
