J,

I suppose if the $2500 has the DirecPC card that allows for a 400K download, instead of a 28.8K or 56K download, that would be something.

It also depends on what you are surfing, data or 'real time' audio and video.

If you are limiting your activity to the 'narrow' range of just 'surfing', and do not require the additional speed and memory for more intensive projects, the $1200 (or for that matter, a used computer!) would be sufficient. As I see it, the 'rich' can buy the 'lower' prices offerings because they can afford to continue to buy as often as the need arises. I am not there quite yet (but DELL [stock] is working on it) and have to get the best that I can afford at the time, considering all that I hope to be able to do, knowing that I will have to run the system as long as possible.

Regards,

Ken
