To all:
sorry for the misalignment in the table from zacks.
Also, some recent ratings and targets:
Robertson Stephens analyst David Niles on 4/24: target 35.
Prudential analyst R Mosesmann on 6/30: target 36.
DLJ analyst Boucher on 5/11 raised target from 35 to 40.
Cowen analyst Drew Peck was neutral recently, but in Sep 97 had a target of 45, along with Jack Geraghty of First Boston, who in Jan 98 had a target of 35.
What do all these target mean? They can give us a idea wher we stood in the street consensus before the earnings. It is interesting that many different firms seem to agree on the stock going to the mid-30s in 12 mos.
Will see what the analysts who have a hold will do. Some light in the battered semi area?
Some of these ratings could be raised. We will see in am
Alfredo

K: You are right, and I can't help but wonder if you your efforts on this board didn't wake them up. Wilf had everyone up there, and he let his associates do more talking than they ever had in the past. I don't just say that the Symbios purchase is great just to spite you, but I honestly believe that it will turn into a superior purchase because of the five fold synergies of increased overseas penetraton for Symbios, ability to access Gresham for .25 chips (obviously not all need .25), broader product array which increases Fibre Channel penetration, the relative lack of competition from ADPT at the server end (although I don't see where that is that much of a stretch for ADPT), and the incredible growth in NT storage business the next three to five years.
LSI sees storage as the fourth horseman that is being added to its previous troika of communications, computers, and consumer. The 30% coreware figure is also impressive, since this area promises to grow in the future. If I had a reservation, I would be interested in how Kurlak crunches the networking numbers. Yeah they were greater, but relative to other competitors how great. I loved Wilf's comment about IBM not being a price competitor, just a quality competitor. That truce should remain in tact for a long time.

Can't help but notice how similiar LSI's and STM's results are like - better than others in Q2, Q3 flat, Q4 turn up. Of course LSI's stock price is not as gold plated as STM's. If Lsi's performance continues to track STM's, will the PEs start going up to match STM's?

I like my long position in LSI. I think I can just leave my money here for a couple of years at least
