Has it been commented that INPR seems to be staffing a consulting services organization? Does this mean the acquisition is off?

Contrary to popular belief, most applications to not get turned out "in a couple of months". In fact the average introduction for a new app. is around 18 months.

I must point out though, that I too thought Java usage was mostly hype until these results - and I am quite comfortable with their accuracy.

I should also point out that the way we do our surveys is on a per application basis - in other words respondents choose three applications (which they label) and answer questions based on each application - we ask that they choose business critical applications. We then "clean" the surveys (in other words throw out any apps. that do not seem to fit that description).
