Premisys Communications Inc reports record revenue for the quarter.
Revenues grow 102% from15M to 31M.

I saw the ICCE papaers. There is (of course) a lot of interest in MPEG-2 and in both the analog and digital circuitry required in digital TV. All of the expected companies, and then some. I didn't see any CUBE papers.

07-23-98 Local TV Makers Worried about Delay of Digital Broadcast

The government's proposal to temporarily put off introducing digital TV to Korea has stirred up concern among
domestic home appliances makers who helped develop digital TV and are poised to launch marketing in the United
States, business sources said.

The Ministry of Information and Communication has recently hinted at postponing test broadcasts for digital TV for one
year until 2001, because of the huge costs required to convert the existing analog system into a digital one.

Original digital plans call for experimental broadcasts in 1999, test broadcasts from 2000 and actual broadcasts in
Seoul and the metropolitan area starting in 2001.

Samsung Electronics Co., which helped develop digital TV at a huge cost, is planning to launch its marketing in the
United States from November. It said it is concerned that it will be difficult to achieve success there, unless the domestic
market is ripe, also that its overseas marketing plan will be adversely affected by the government's slowdown
concerning digital TV here.

LG electronics developed a core part of digital TV in October last year. It plans to export 64-inch digital TVs to the
United States beginning in November.

LG sources said that Korean digital TV makers would lose their competitive edge in advanced foreign markets unless
domestic plans are implemented as scheduled.
