No, 1. To stop ATT and other LD companies attempt to steal their
local voice consumer and business customers
2. To have a potential to package services similar to what
ATT is promissing and doing, like single billing, discounts
to those who subscribes to the package which includes:
local telephone, local internet access, local cellular and
local cable services
3. On data side their position in this case is wait and see. If
ADSL is spreading faster and is more cost effective they
have an option to take this route, if cable is more cost
effective, they switch in an instant.
