dobr,

Only one unanswerable question is allowed per day, you asked two ;-)

There have been several back-end/test semi equips announcing terrible earnings and zero earnings visibility just this past week. I would guess TER is going down in sympathy.

As for why this thread is so quiet...It seems like is always has been, whether its making a strong run up, or whether its in a serious down-trend (like it is now). Very laid-back group here.

Teradyne Inc. (TER) 25 -5/16: Adams Harkness lowers estimates on provider of electronic test systems and backplane connection systems due to $90 mln of cancellations cut into backlog; while TER thinks it can maintain new orders at this level and that cancellations are behind them, outlook is still unclear; while degree of excess capacity on the back-end is less than on the front-end, still lowering estimates; maintains "attractive" rating while lowering FY98 EPS estimate from $1.95 to $1.46 a share and FY99 from $2.60 to $1.25 a share.....
