I do not believe it is 5 years out technologicaly. Your 2nd sentence is not clear to me. What LD companies complains do you refer to??

When ATT bought Teleport for $11 billions it payd for it with 10% of ATT stocks ownership to TCI, COX and Comcast, 3 largest cable operators in US (only Timewarner is missing). These companies I presume by having the interest in ATT stock will cooperate with ATT in whatever telephone-cable offering it will come up with.
