Patrick,

I'm not sure how many of the Ancor new hires lived outside Minnesota immediately
before accepting the job at Ancor. At least two of the marketing people
already lived in MN; I don't know about Pasqua.

I decided to check out the press releases announcing some of the people.
Here is a listing in reverse chronological order:

Barry McGriff 6/30/98 Dir, OEM Sales Quantum California?
Paul Pasqua 4/14/98 VP Sales Zytec MN or FL?
Craig Frane 2/24/98 Dir, Prod Mgmt Seagate Minnesota
Ken Hendrickson 7/31/97 CEO WD California
Carla Kennedy 6/11/97 VP Mktg SGI/Cray Minnesota

Since Zytec was a Minnesota company purchased by a Florida company, I don't
know if Pasqua moved to FL. Regardless, there are many companies the size
of Ancor in the Twin Cities, and if the people listed above are talented
they could have gone elsewhere. But then, perhaps Ancor is like the
U of MN football team: If they are so good, why did they become a Golden Gopher.

Here are the current listing for more ex-pats:

Director, Software Development
Systems Engineer, PreSales
Senior Software Engineer, Device Drivers
Senior Software Engineer, Switching
Software Engineer, System Integration
Senior ASIC Design Engineer
Customer Service Engineer

Greg

<<Many of those that have come on board recently have a chance at a lark in the hometown -- they are from Minnesota and there are not a lot of public companies having senior management positions open. Does that help explain many of the new hires? >>

So, are you suggesting that the folks migrating to ANCR are the ones that don't have any other options. Just good old boys that decide to pack up and move to a place where the winter weather is wonderful (Craig, Thrend) can I include the late summer and early spring in that? (BTW I was recruited for a position in Minn. and the recruiter told me I could go from Building to building in a Glass tube, not to worry about the temp :) Yhea LOL. - Not a good sales pitch.

PS. ANCR management has their heads where the sun doesn't shine !!

PSS. Craig, Good questions, don't be PO'ed about the cut off, It was Ken's only saving grace. Plus, I do not think that it was orchestrated, but Ken and Comp. could not have done much worse.
