Soes trading at home will require at least an ISDN line or a Frame Relay connection to CyberTrader, All-Tech, Castle, Block, AB Watley and others. Otherwise, you might as well use Datek for $9.95 or MB Trading and a regular modem. You must realize will be primarily limited to NASD stocks through most of these for quick executions as some don't take limit orders for NYSE and some have a reporting time delay of your NYSE trades which will make you pull your hair out. The difference is with the before mentioned you can continue with afterhours trading with one of these outfits as a SOES trader and your order shows up as INCA=Instinet on the level II screen. Using Datek you are still able to split the spread and your order appears as ISLD=Island on the level II screen. In either case, you will soon see that even though you may sit at the best ask or bid on the level II screen your orders may not be executing and they just sit there as the "time and Sales" screen ticks off orders at the same price. What is occurring is your best bid price on level II is establishing the in house trade prices for the EGRP's and Ameritrades and others. Another words, if you put an order out at best bid/ask and it sit there for more than 10 minutes, you might as well yank it unless you really want it to execute, because all you may be doing is setting the market for in house trades. You should research the different ECN's to know which is best for you and that will lead you to the appropriate brokerage. You can do searches here at SI for the above brokerages also, as most have had active threads here in the past. You will also want to get familiar with the mIRC #daytraders chat channel, as there are a lot of Datek daytraders hanging out there. Good luck Scott PS. My job hours changed so that if I ever daytrade, I never get any sleep, so I've dropped PC Quote and now hang out at the A.I.M. thread.
