Want to ask a question which any who are so moved may respond to. Please don't chide me for lack of faith or insecurity.

I will try to be brief ...

I have been praying for some time about the potential oppty to return to school and get a PhD. I have a good job where I am appreciated and have recently had some successes which I can only attribute to God's intervention.

Recently, I pursued and was offered a position where I could work part-time and study for the PhD. In conjunction I was offered a rather sizable scholarship. At first I accepted the offer, but upon further reflection I realized there was considerable risk to taking that course, leaving my present job. I was also not terribly happy with the wage offered for the part-time work.

I've flipped flopped a couple of times wrestling with the decision. Finally I have made a counter-offer to the one the company provided me.

Do you think it would be wrong to pray and ask God to provide the direction through this circumstance, i.e. if it is a place I should go let the counter-offer be accepted -- if it is not a place I should not go let the offer be rejected? I am still somewhat uncertain as to what to do -- but certain that I am 'worth' at least the wage (hourly basis) I am being paid now.

Do you feel asking God in this fashion is "forcing a test" or asking Him to make a decision that I should make myself?

Tippet

Thanks for the report

He was in the "kings" courts

Just goes to show you how old I really am. I hadn't realized the wart idiom was that old. You've got to be an oldtimer as well spinning stories out of the 50's.
I remember my grandmother of the 1800's generation telling about using thread to twist them off - and the old hokus pokus according to her, did the trick.

A verse for the Lord's day:
"I was downright happy when they 'sed to me, let's got to church."

If the good wife is able, she 'sez she wants to go tomorrow. I tell you what, she won't have to twist my arm. I miss those loud clashing cymbals, the singing, the message, the people, the fellowship, etc.

Wishing you a fantastic LORD's day!
