Craig, the buy on the rumor strategy has worked for me with DELL in the past 4 earnings seasons. I use it for stocks like CSCO, TLAB, LU as well. I did not use it for IBM this quarter or QCOM, but ordinarily I would have. Now I'm back in QCOM thinking it should recover the big gains in the beginning of the week. I was deeply 'involved' with my internets these last few days so I missed the run up both IBM and QCOM. Both stocks did great befor and through the earnings report. I tend to think that DELL will be good hold through the report, although since I will be holding options and not the stock, I would tend to want to sell BEFORE. I would buy about 15-20 calls of options deep-in-the-money and just hold for 1-2 days. I did not hold through earnings in the last quarter although I did hold for the 2 quarters prior. Some of my own strategies are easily accessible in this url: marketgems.com. But that doesn't speak for the excellent contributors to this thread that have their own strategies and guidelines.

Craig
here are some stats on Dell

Message 5311600
we are watching Dell very carefully on this thread

because there are some long termers in it and some of us who play it short term...and we are watching for an entry before earnings

Chris got his CSS SELL signal on the stock Friday
and a couple of days ago there was a Parabolic Sell signal on it

watch for his updated chart this weekend

btw, Dell broke his trendline to the downside

also look at the swing on the options Friday
would have been a great play if you could have gotten it right
