Janar, the fundamentals in this market are not "great". They are rotten, but the TECHNICAL picture is what is holding us up. Specifically, the great success of the market is pulling more money in and that money is going into big cap names like WCOM. I just bought WCOM because it looks like a good refuge - top name in a key field, just beat estimates and a good merger about to close.

Just don't fool yourself that the overall "market" is fine. It's not. That's why I'm pulling back into quality big cap names where I am prepared to ride out a 10 - 20% pullback. WCOM and the others are long term holds (my others include WMB, FFC, WPO and BRKB).

wcom's cfo, i believe, is on record as saying that they have a business plan ready to announce after merger is final that will "knock the socks off" the investment community -- so it appears your hunch is correct. hurry approval!
