>>> But if this
company can't get its act together and work - one way or another -
as an undivided team, the prognosis isn't great.

I think that the prognosis is great.

FWIW: I was told by a senior executive of a major securities firm only ten days or so ago that Forbes was "an egomaniac" and that his failure to accept responsibility for what happened on his watch was "arrogant" and irresponsible.

Since I don't know Forbes, I can't speak to the former point. I've worked with enough CEOs in my professional career, however, to agree wholeheartedly with the latter judgment.

I'm still hovering but will likely buy CD this week because the long term outlook seems to justify the risk.

Harold:

I too believe a great deal of this is a well orchestrated Silverman campaign for control. With a JD and all his investment banking experience, Silverman will squash Forbes like a bug. Forbes is out of his league. Don't worry about Forbes absence affecting the stock, as it was HFS NOT CUC that outperformed Intel and MSFT from 1992 - 1997. We will buy another "visionary" much cheaper than Forbes.

Forbes: one of two

1. was aware of the fraud - in that case he should to be charged accordingly and should be suspended till the end of the trial.

2. was lied to and did not know - in that case people responsible
should be charged with the fraud. Forbes is basically
in the same situation as Ernst & Young. They both were lied to and
it was not their job to check whether they are being told the
truth. Should stay as Chairman.

Silverman: He relied on Ernst & Young and can not be blamed
either. Of course he is taking advantage of the
opportunity and trying to get rid of Forbes.

The proper thing to do:

to calm down and to get to the bottom of it.

I will email the board this post.
