couple things to ponder as i did (when i was in bed) <gg>

1) notice that the DOW LEAD the mkt. that has not happened often? I recall articles and the past history where the NAZDAQ has always lead the mkt in terms of direction (up and down moves)

2) I agree that the mkt can still recover.. But it has to do it THIS week. SPX, NAZ, NDX are still abv 50 day ema. I haven't packed up and gone hibernating yet <g>. But this week will be important.

I think you're doing a great job Bob. Keep up the good work. It's important to sit down and "figure out what the mkt" is telling us..

it's not easy with the endless mkt news/events, but i think you've done well shifting through and summarizing it.

donald sew's technical summary compliments bob g's mkt summary:

dont give up people. take control of your trading. mkt is king, but dont let it overrule your plans. stick to your trading plans.

find out what you're going to do - a) if mkt rallies, what now? b) if mkt tanks, what now? c) if mkt is flat, what now?

by monday morning, you should know what your plays for each scenario.

for those out of the mkt or have time:

1) review trades and review portfolio stats.

my new picks for next rally (yep.. im researching already),

INTC (maybe i can finally break even!)
LU (profit taking, but still strong imo)
DELL (waiting for the confirmed uptrend for pre-earnings. 21 day ema held!)
GE (beaten down to 90 support)

notice, im playing relatively some old picks.. that's my goal. dont look at too many picks.

Re: "The stocks that saw most of the action through this period of time were of companies that had no positive earnings growth history except for losses or spurious profits. CMGI, LU come to mind here."

Bob, I believe CMGI is seeing the current action since it has interests in about 21 different internet real estate, if just 2-3 of them IPOs well, the current CMGI cap can be more than justified and then some;LU is seeing the current action since the telecom sector will have robust growth in the next five years, but more than that LU has some 1500 patents on proprietary technology, residual from their Bell Lab days. PE valuation models are but an exercise in futility when stocks/sectors are entering into their tornadoes of future growth.
