larry, had this discussion with david. many are still at 0.35. my point was about most - not in terms of companies, but in terms of output. hitachi is at 0.18 on ONE fab. i'm sure that others are also below 0.35 b/c that has been what amat and others have been selling.

i must admit that one must speculate a little as most companies don't hype their processes. david's point was that mu is way ahead on the production of dram and costs. per the actions of the doc, this was not true a few months ago. although it may be now, i rather think it is unlikely.

juat speculation, no sources. at least i can admit it! ;-)

I can confirm that 'Sammy' is producing 2nd generation 64Meg's(SDRAM) at .28um technology, they bit the bullet and
went to deep UV at .28um even though they did not need to just to
work the bugs out the steppers(lasers sources very different) and
more importantly the resist technology. Currently 'Sammy' is fully
converted in 2 Korean fabs to a .22um part type the has 440
possible die per wafer with probe yields at 90%+ probe yields. In
Austin they are converting to this shrink now with the initial qual
lots yielding 90%, the Austin facility has a spec'ed output rating
of 30k wafers/month and they will be there by Oct. Also
I have heard thru the grapevine that IBM has not yet qualified
Micron's 64M SDRAM as pc100 compliant, has anyone else
heard this??
