There is a major disconnect between the assessment of insiders, who purchased idti in the open market recently at a range of $6.75 to $7.63, and the mood of the market. On Friday 190 contracts of the February $5 puts were purchased at a range of 13/16 to $1. Put buyers think this one is going below $4 between now and Feb. 1999. Extreme pessimism provides both fear and opportunity.

IMO insiders may buy early but they seldom are wrong. If you talk to Mr. Berg, please share his thought process with us concerning his purchases. He must have underestimated the depth of idti's problems. The purchase of 10,000 shares by Chun-der Lien, VP for technology for $6.75 may be more important than Berg's.

Maybe Lien's timing will be better. Time will tell whether the insiders are fools or wise.
