Has anyone read the preliminary reviews from Tom's Hardware site? It previews the 3dfx Banshee, NVidia TNT, and Savage 3D. Not very good results for the Savage 3D in comparison to the other chips so perhaps S3 might move this to mainstream and low-end sooner than we think.

It's funny cuz there's quite a few other objective reviews that gave Savage 3D high marks. Yet, I'm still waiting to see what kind of roadmap they have for their future generation of 3D chips. But that may not happen too soon as well so as to keep the competition in the dark as much as possible.

It took S3 around a year to dig themselves into a hole (more like the Grand Canyon) so I guess I'll give them about 6-12 months to redeem themselves. Good luck all.

It seems that no one cares about on-chip or on-board DVD decoders anymore. The general trend it seems is to settle with software decoding. Has anyone else noticed this among board/chip makers?
