On better news...this hit the wires today

INTERNETWEEK, Page 16, July 27, 1998

Alpha Software, a subsidiary of SoftQuad International Inc., has debuted a low-end, turnkey electronic-commerce application for creating Web-based storefronts. Online Merchant, which will be made available through retail outlets, is a $99 package for small and medium-sized businesses and can be used to build Web-based storefronts without programming or knowledge of HTML. It will ship this fall.

>>Peter R. Mesnick...[HoTMetaL then WebFiler....next?...]

has just confirmed that WebFiler Development Group [Inc.] is a completely independent corporate entity and when asked if there will be a [WebFiler] version greater than 1.11 which was released 10/97 Mr. Mesnick stated "...it depends if we want to continue the product..."...Mr. Mesnick further stated that there effectively is no WebFiler Group within Alpha and that Selwyn Rabins, President (NASDAQ:SWEBF)(TSE:SKI) is Peter Mesnick's [WBDG]s main contact!?...esecurities has multiple email into Alpha [since Friday] regarding this and other issues with no acknowledgement as of this hour...it simply and realistically appears that SoftQuad has [quietly] failed in creating shareholder value with SoftQuad [HoTMetaL et al] Inc and WebFiler...it is discouraging for shareholders to be advised that a major [material] division of your company has been spun-off without formal disclosure...and now we are [encouraged to] believe that NewKidCo, effectively?/basically?, is the 1998 version of both HoTMetaLs and WebFiler's present value promises...in happier days...it is the [blatant and deafening] silence from management which is the itch that just won't go away...
