Greg, thanks for the information. Tim may lose his expert mining status if he can't get things right. <VBG>

Greg,
Thanks for the confirmation , I don't know who Thall is but i do know he is one of Coggons good friends and that alone should put up a red flag to beware. I don't know what their agenda is but i know that most of what they post is shaded. No one spends their life fighting against something that they have no interest in. of course Coggens and his group would have everyone believe that they are speaking against the mines to protect all of us, I for one don't want or need their protection. Remember what God said in the bible "PROVE ALL THINGS " . With what has been happening with all of the mines I would think is would be wise to prove what anyone says.

Greg I won't say you are wrong. I also called the BLM. I was told that there is no grace period. All fees are due by August 31. There are few exceptions and they involve things like typos, etc.

Once the BLM becomes aware that one has not paid, (may take several weeks to several months depending on schedule)they send a letter stating claims null and void.

You can actually go out and stake over existing claims and the BLM will accept money and file. They will not involve themselves in legal ownership. That will have to be done in civil court.

I talked to Carol Van Dorn, the Mining Specialist with Socorro Office of the Bureau of Land Management. She said the rules apply to all BLM land in any state.

Perhaps you would share the name of the BLM representative that you spoke with.
