Dear Majikfrog:

Thanks for the information. Two points on inquiry:

(1) A respresentative at SMSC "emphasized that this was not SMSC's press release." What did he mean by "this"? The consortium article? The release of May 28? (I note that the latter directly quotes Robert Hollingsworth, divisional vice president of marketing at SMSC, and lists John Tweedy of SMSC as a contact.)

(2) Just because mass deployment is not expected until Q3 of 1999, does that necessarily mean that news of Wave's distributed-firewall and OEM successes will not emerge much sooner? I have to think that the rise-to-run ratio of the staircase to ubiquity will be closer to 1 than to infinity.

Thoughts?

Best wishes.

Mass deployment

I would consider mass deployment to mean that wavemeters are in the hands of millions of consumers. How quickly does it take to move a new product through the necessary sales channels and achieve mass deployment?? I think we will see product announcements and the availability of wavemeters real soon, so that the meter is "mass deployed" by Q399. Anyone have a different spin?

I do not think we will have to wait another year. As long as products are being released with meters in them, wavx will soar very soon.
