The problems with the society we live in is that the concept of free speech can be a demon itself. It offers the ability to promote such things as Nazism and what the Soviets called Communism, which in turn creates the possiblity of one day these evils(as we assume and believe them to be) to take over. Should this happen, the ability to return to what we now have would be removed, regardless of popular sentiment. The only tool that the 'freedom' lover truly has are its so called tribunals such as the Human rights one.
Censorship, as you are well aware I am sure, is a truly difficult concept in a free society for obvious reasons, such as 'Where do you draw the line'. I do believe though, to safeguard our freedom, or the little we have, it is necessary to a degree.
The promotion of hatred and bigotry is not an allowable expression of free speech. Rather, it is an abuse of the freedom we have. The argument that maybe the whole world is wrong, and only a few right, doesn't wash here. The true test in a case of Jerry's father is simple. How would you feel if you were on the receiving end of his comments. If you feel, by truly placing yourself there, that they are fair and true, then he should have the right to express them. If on the other hand, they upset you if put in that position, then they become racist and bigotted.
My roots are from a country that was overrun by the Nazi's and my parents were witness to the atrocities. His promotion of the concept it was all lies, and the rest of his rhetoric do not match those of the witnesses. My parents description have not been tainted by government intervention nor propaganda. They were there. People like Doug Collins abuse free speech with the propaganda they spew, and thus the need for the Human Rights Tribunal's exist.
One thing worth considering. If Doug Collins was in contradiction to Nazi, Soviet, or Chinese government positions, he would have been dead or in a cell somewhere by now. In Canada, he has been given the opportunity, to explain himself, which speaks highly of our Country. I know of some people, who believe that rather than waste tax dollars and this scum, a bullet would have been much cheaper.
Now, in closing, whether or not it is fair to lump Jerry in with his father, well, to be honest, I cannot remember seeing a post yet where he has supported his fathers views, nor have I seen an legitimate proof that he supports him. His only crime todate maybe in his methods and his attacks on certain individuals, that have in turn spawned the attacks back. He needs to understand that most of the investors involved here do not blame AV, or Mesa, or Carson, for what has transpired. We are adults. We made our decisions based on the research we did, and the information available. In the end, we bought the stock because we believed all information and research to suggest that there was a good chance this stock would fly. When GSTQ, goes after Carson, or AV, or MESA, and suggests they sucked in, or misrepresented this situation, he goes after each and everyone of us. I feel he is insulting me by suggesting that I have been made a sucker. In turn, after enuf of this I get frustrated and comment accordingly. He can spare the recriminations, because I have enough of my own at this time, for myself.
When the forum moves, it is for this reason. If he had information that was of value, assisted in the decision to buy or sell, then he is valuable. But when all he provides is catcalls, inuendoes and smart ass remarks, he becomes abusive, and perhaps, while in a different forum, not unlike his father.
