I can tell you from personal experience (unfortunately) that it does matter to companies. Once forced to deal with an "unpleasant" situation that exposes them to unnecessary and unwanted risks, they take immediate measures to "correct" the situation. Also, the final outcome is not always justice, but it is primarily designed to reduce the risk for the company. (Which would you prefer to deal with? A fired Manager suing the company or an EEOC or sexual harassment lawsuit that could cost the company millions of dollars.)

Personally, I do not care to ever be a manager in a company again....too many laws that reflect the socialism that has pervaded our society. Btw, I am now in Consulting.
