Gary,
I belive it was J. Saf who posted earlier that an IDX biometric acquisition would most likely be in an area outside of fingerprints. Look at this from a common sense point of view, Identicator seems to have some nice pilot programs going right now with their minutia based reader but they are not a major threat to the future of IDX, just another competitor. What value would they add to IDX? If a cheap minutia based reader becomes the winning technology for database security I am sure that IDX has the technology and the infrastructure to produce and sell a similar product at a competitive price. Based purely on product Identicator cannot offer anything IDX does not already possess. If you are acquiring based upon their pilots you may very well have a long wait before you see results, if ever. The Compaq/Identicator alliance looks like a very good deal and I would like to see IDX involved, but perhaps an IBM/IDX deal will appear in the future. Bottom line is do they really offer anything that IDX would like to have at this time? I tink the answer is no.
