James: When the thread first began I thought it would be a great place to focus on day trading so I found myself taking positions into companies which looked like they would have a pop soon after my purchace. The stragedy has worked on a few occasions and we have had quite a few high flyers (BNYN, PSIX, TRBDF) but the lesson here is once again the classic buy and hold. By profit taking on TRBDF I have sacraficed a major gain, this is true with a number of others as well. The trend I have been seeing regularly here is that our 13's are crossing there averages and correcting, this usually take a few months as I demonstrate here with companies still in this phase: coverage innitiated on 5/7/98:investor.msn.com coverage inn. on 5/14:investor.msn.com coverage inn. on 4/27:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/7:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/11:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/7:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/7:investor.msn.com There have been some very nice exceptions like IFCI, of which I own, but the major trendline on the stocks which I have placed on my list of weekly 13's follows this corrective phase I note above. The tide of the market also factors in here, we have seen the market correct which has kept at least a few of these at bay. I bring all of this up because I have lost out a number of times by not having patience and faith in what I myself place in my portfolio, I say this to everyone who follows this thread, if a stock is solid fundamentally and it is demonstrating key technical signs then something is going on and it is worth the wait. We are seeing this turnaround take place in a number of the 13's: coverage on 5/8, notice the correction and then uptrend:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/7, againg dip then uptrend:investor.msn.com coverage on 5/1, even PSIX, a major winner has corrected:investor.msn.com Even though we come across 13's like, right now, DYNT which has been unstoppable, the lesson for me here is not to count out the turtles in the race. I have been guilty of seeking out only the DYNT's and have suffered disappointments when I don't get this instant gratification. I have been seeing alot of new names on this thread and I want to extend this sentiment out to those who have recently joined. Not many of them keep going up after crossing there 13 week MA, but some are solid and good INVESTMENTS, thus the 13's thread may be a good way to spot potential breakouts but in my opinion it is a better way to discover obscure, little known companies before they become gems.
